Benefit Director (Coordinator)

Guernica: a magazine of art and politics is looking for a director/coordinator to spearhead our 2008 benefit. The date is not yet set, but we hope to hold the event in October. The benefit coordinator will:

-Help and advise in choosing of talent, including readers and bands.
-Help and advise in choosing of venue.
-Administrate weekly to-do list and meeting agenda for the benefit team.
-Attend weekly or bi-monthly benefit meetings.
-Execute research, outreach, and follow up as assigned.
-Request and direct volunteers for the benefit.
-Work the event as assigned.
-Administrate the marketing/collateral materials production.
-Support all benefit related responsibilities.
-Work benefit team projects as assigned.
-Administrate close out financial efforts after end of benefit
-Performs other duties as assigned.

We ask that you commit to staying on board through the benefit date and for whatever time afterward (likely, one month) it takes to wrap up post-benefit business (mailing thank you notes, receiving checks, etc.).

The position does not pay (we are a non-profit, labor of love, and nobody makes money at this stage), but the event head will have access to Guenica's extensive list of contacts. become part of an established and influential magazine that is growing rapidly, and have the warm feeling of doing something valuable, if we may so ourselves. The opportunity for a long-standing relationship, along with well written kudos to those who ask about your work, is also a possibility, and hope.
