Last week Guernica contributor John Patrick Leary spoke with The Craig Fahle Show on WDET to talk about the popular media narratives about Detroit, a topic Leary wrote about in his article “Detroitism” featured in the January 15th issue of our magazine. Near the end of the interview, Leary states, “A lot of the interest comes from a sense that the city of Detroit isn’t just an exception to the rule of the United States…that Detroit is, in some sense, the future of American cities…”
