A reported 140 people were killed and more than 800 were injured in a violent clash in China’s Xinjiang province. The BBC’s Chris Hogg in Shanghai says the clash, which began on Sunday, was one of the most serious altercations between the authorities and demonstrators in China since Tiananmen Square in 1989.
