by Paula Bohince

The heart is made first, to make a foothold. First cell
replicated to build a body. Iron bridges lead out of the city
and back in. The heart is also the cemetery.

Paula Bohince’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Agni, Alaska Quarterly Review, Shenandoah, Sou'wester, Mississippi Review, Mid-American Review and elsewhere. She lives in New York City.
