For reasons I don’t quite understand, most critics shrugged at Duplicity and audiences found it easy to ignore. But there’s plenty to like in this romantic caper. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are two of Hollywood’s only real movie stars. In Duplicity they flirt and snoop, perhaps on each other, across time zones from Dubai to Cleveland. The flashback-heavy plot structure is just complex enough to flatter your intelligence. Can corporate espionage really be this much fun?
