Staff Pick: Erica Wright

September 24, 2009

erica_wright-small.jpgIn Swimming Pool, a novelist (played by the brilliant Charlotte Rampling) retreats to her publisher’s country home. Her solitude is interrupted by an uninhibited teenage girl, and the two begin an uneasy relationship. As the tension between them builds, so does the sinister mystery at the heart of the story. I was mesmerized by this film and hope you will be, as well.

Bio: Erica Wright is the poetry editor at Guernica. Her interview with John Ashbery, “Houses at Night”:https://www.guernicamag.com/interviews/507/houses_at_night_1/, appeared in Guernica’s February 2008 issue. Read her last recommendation “here”:https://www.guernicamag.com/blog/1283/staff_pick_erica_wright_5/.
