I’ve spent the past seven years working seasonally as a deckhand on a crab fishing boat in the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska. The images in the Fish-Work, Bering Sea series are pictures I made while I was at work. It is a chronicle of my life and experiences as a commercial fisherman, a career I both romanticize and loath.

Portland-based photographer Corey Arnold spends his time shooting magazine and ad assignments around the world and moonlighting as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. His photographic chronicles of the commercial fishing lifestyle in Norway and Alaska have been exhibited in leading galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Portland. His work has been featured in The Paris Review, Juxtapoz, Artweek, Italian Rolling Stone, Esquire, PDN, the Chicago Tribune, and Outside Magazine. Corey Arnold is represented by Richard Heller Gallery in Santa Monica and commercially by Redeye Represents in Los Angeles.
