Wednesday, July 21, 6:30 P.M. Guernica will be participating in the Park-Lit reading series at Union Square Park, and will feature non-fiction by Joshua Kors, poetry by Terese Svoboda, and fiction by Alexander Chee.
Kors is an investigative reporter for The Nation who has earned national attention for his coverage of military and veterans’ issues. His work has also been featured in the anthology The Best American Magazine Writing 2008. Kors is the winner of the National Magazine Award, George Polk Award, and IRE Award, among others.
Svoboda was Guernica’s fiction guest editor in May 2006. Her poems have appeared in Guernica , Paris Review, and The New Yorker. She has published five poetry collections, four novels, and the memoir Black Glasses Like Clark Kent, which won the 2007 Graywolf Nonfiction Prize.
Chee was Guernica’s fiction guest editor in June 2008. Besides appearing in Guernica, his essays and stories have also been seen in Mentors, Muses and Monsters, The Man I Might Become, Loss Within Loss, Men On Men 2000, His 3 and Boys Like Us. He has published one novel with a second, The Queen of the Night, due out in 2011 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
