Julian Assange tells Kirsty Wark of BBC’s Newsnight: “My name if you search on the internet… There’s some 5 million web pages, at least before I was in solitary confinement, mentioning my name. 4 million of those also mention the word rape. There are 33 million web pages altogether on the internet that mention the word rape in any context. So I am mentioned in over one tenth of all the contexts of all the rapes that have ever happened that have been documented on the internet. So this has been a very successful smear campaign and a very wrong one.”

“We have become a robust organization through repeated attack.”

These two interviews are worth watching as well. Speaking on Bradley Manning and how solitary confinement is affecting Manning. Assange explains that WikiLeaks is a technology that prevents even their analysts from knowing if Manning is the source of many of their leaks.

Assange tells ABC News: “I had never heard of the name Bradley Manning before it was published in the press. WikiLeaks technology was designed from the very beginning to make sure that we never known the identities or names of people submitting material.”
