Poet Paula Bohince’s newest collection The Children has been scheduled for a 2012 release from Sarabande Books. Bohince’s first collection Incident at the Edge of Bayonet Woods (Sarabande Books 2008) was a kind of murder mystery set to verse, and garnered praise from such poets as Stanley Plumly, who likened Bohince’s work to that of Robert Frost, Sherwood Anderson, and James Wright: “Bohince is…more naturalist than romantic, meaning that her poems above all honor their dark side, their realism, their edge.” Bohince blends the pastoral with something decidedly more sinister, placing her poems within a landscape that is at once dream-like and familiar.

Check out Bohince’s poem “Spider Web,” which appeared in Guernica in 2005.
