Guernica—an award-winning, free online magazine of art & politics—co-founded in 2004 by Michael Archer, Joel Whitney, Elizabeth Onusko, and Joshua Jones, will host its 10th Anniversary Gala on November 5th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY.

Featuring a seated dinner followed by cocktails and dancing, all proceeds from the evening will go towards expanding the range of voices featured in Guernica, compensating writers and editors, and maintaining free access to the magazine’s decade of award-winning online content. The event is chaired by Lorraine Adams, author of Harbor, The Room and the Chair, and winner of the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

The gala will honor cultural luminaries Stanley Nelson, Rebecca Saletan, and Ayad Akhtar for their achievements in the arts as creators, leaders, and thinkers. The event will be emceed by Josh Gondelman (staff writer, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and stand-up comic).

“Its incredible to realize that we have reached a point where we are looking back on 10 years of this magazine, which started as a desire to provide access to the best intellectual and literary work for as many people as we could. We weren’t sure we’d be here today, and it’s thrilling to know that we are both celebrating something that felt impossible, looking toward future years of a free online magazine, and honoring the kind of intellects and artists that inspired Guernica from the beginning.” says Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief Michael Archer.

Tickets to both the dinner and the after-party can be purchased on the Guernica website at Inquiries regarding press, sponsorship opportunities and other questions can be directed to Lisa Lucas at
