Guernica interviewee Fatima Bhutto is currently on book tour to promote Songs of Blood and Sword: A Daughter’s Memoir. Bhutto, a Pakistani writer and poet, is the niece of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. In her July 2009 interview, she discusses her work to include women in Pakistani politics, as well as how Obama and corruption legitimize the Taliban.

Last Friday, she appeared on Democracy Now to talk about her memoir and the devastation following the floods in Pakistan, a disaster that she says “ought to have been contained [and] could have been contained.”
