Doug Van Gundy directs the low-residency MFA program in creative writing at West Virginia Wesleyan College. His poems, essays, and reviews have appeared in many journals, including Poets & Writers, Poetry, and the Oxford American. He is the author of a book of poems, A Life Above Water, and coeditor of the anthology Eyes Glowing at the Edge of the Woods: Fiction and Poetry from West Virginia. His second book of poems is forthcoming from the University Press of Kentucky in 2024. “The Flooded Town” will be included in the anthology Troublesome Rising: A Thousand-Year Flood in Eastern Kentucky, also slated to be published by the University Press of Kentucky in 2024.
