Emanuel Admassu is an assistant professor at the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. He is a founding partner, with Jen Wood, of AD—WO, an art and architecture practice whose work was featured in Reconstructions: Architecture and Blackness in America at the Museum of Modern Art. His art, design, and teaching practices operate at the intersection of design theory, spatial justice, and contemporary African art. Admassu has taught in RISD's architecture department and Harvard's Graduate School of Design. He is the co-editor of Where is Africa, an exploration of art, representation, and Africa (CARA 2024), and a cofounding board member of the Black Reconstruction Collective.
