Maria Mitsora was born in 1946 in Athens, Greece. After moving to Montreux, she studied sociology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and Vincennes. She has published seven books to critical acclaim—novellas, short story collections, and a narrative autobiography—and written widely for literary magazines and journals. A key figure of the underground movement in Greek literature beginning in the 1970s, she continues to write in Athens to this day.
