“But for the Grace of God ” is a series of images taken in Eastern Tennessee that examines life in modern Appalachia. The photographs seek to revisit the region brought to national attention through the WPA projects of the New Deal – looking at how this part of America has both changed and remained the same nearly a century later. Though somewhat masked by the Wal-Mart-ization of America, themes of poverty, struggle, faith and perseverance prevail.
