Boyce Upholt is a freelance writer based in New Orleans, focused on the overlap of place, identities, and imagination. His fiction has been published in the Sewanee Review and his journalism has appeared in The Atlantic, The New Republic, TIME, and the Oxford American, among other venues. He is working on a book about the natural and social history of the Mississippi River.
