Debbie Weingarten's writing has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, The Guardian, the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, In These Times, Guernica, Longreads, and elsewhere. She was a 2019 finalist for the James Beard Award in Investigative Reporting. After sixteen formative years in southern Arizona, she recently relocated to the mountains of western North Carolina.
