Raised in Russia, Lina Zeldovich watched her grandfather fertilize the family’s organic orchard with composted sewage and thought the whole world did the same. Now a journalist and author in New York, she has won awards for covering the science of poo and written a book on the novel solutions to the world’s oldest problem, The Other Dark Matter: The Science and Business of Turning Waste into Wealth and Health. Her stories have appeared in Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest and Popular Science, among other outlets, and her fiction has been published in several anthologies.
