Mario Reinaldo Machado is a doctoral student in Geography at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, whose research focuses on development, sustainability, and agriculture in Latin American and sub-Saharan Africa. He is also a freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Huffington Post, National Geographic, and Organic Gardening Magazine. He is currently working on his first book, a science-fiction novel that explores the intersection of environmental catastrophe, gene editing, and revolutionary politics.
